Calling All Workplace Stakeholders!
Drug Free America Foundation cordially invites you to participate in this essential workplace live webinar Tuesday June 16, 2020 at 10:00 AM with the topic of Substance Use Prevention in the Workplace and Its Role in the Community.
Engaging young adults aged 18 – 25, parents and local businesses in meaningful and relevant ways sometimes challenges community prevention providers. The workplace provides an excellent venue to reach these populations in ways that promote the goals of a safe and healthy community, and for businesses a safe and profitable workplace environment. Specifically, Drug-Free Workplace programs provide evidence-based tools and resources to achieve these goals such as education on the harms of drugs and alcohol, avenues for people to access evaluation and treatment, ongoing recovery support, through an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
A drug-free workplace, is defined in the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, as a workplace where "the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession, or use of a controlled substance is prohibited." A drug-free workplace creates a safe work environment that encourages personal health and safety. Furthermore, drug-free workplaces complement on-going prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery efforts in the community.
This webinar defines the elements of a drug-free workplace and describes how employers, employees and the community benefit from the implementation of drug-free workplaces. Participants will be able to engage businesses and community leaders in discussions about applying drug-free workplace practices. The webinar provides information on the latest workplace-based strategies, hands on tools and access to resources for follow-up.
